In October and November, the Moviementon Cinema and the Porn Film Festival Berlin will present two films by Rosa von Praunheim.

“Thirty Years on the Whip” premiered to a sold-out audience at last year’s Porn Film Festival and opens at the Moviemento Cinema on October 16. We’ll be welcoming Lady MacLaine and other cast members, among others, to this event.

The new film “The Satanic Sow”, which had its successful world premiere at this year’s Berlinale, will be shown at the Porn Film Festival on October 25 and 26, 2025. Several actors will be present and can talk about filming with Rosa von Praunheim. Following the festival, the film will be shown in the regular program at the Moviemento Cinema starting November 27, 2025.

In typical Rosa von Praunheim docu-fiction style, the legendary gay Berlin filmmaker portrays his neighbor, who worked for decades as a professional dominatrix in the Berlin district of Wilmersdorf. While the real Lady MacLaine reflects with wit and honesty on her life and work, this is impressively retold in reenacted scenes. The very bourgeois side that BDSM can have is portrayed just as ruthlessly as the coincidence that led Lady MacLaine to become a dominatrix. Kink in Wilmersdorf is down-to-earth and real in its own special way!

Berlin’s gay film legend Rosa von Praunheim once again graces the PFFB with his bittersweet sarcasm, this time in a biographical essay. In the crude setting of his vintage apartment overcrowded with stuffed animals, Rosa’s alter ego reflects – between desirable young men – on the 150 films of his life. At the same time, explores questions like is there “sex after death”, what God has to say about it, as well as other essential philosophical considerations of age and sexuality. As always, it’s trashy yet intelligent, walking the fine line between bad taste and genius.

Founded in 2006, the Pornfilmfestival Berlin shows films that deal with questions of sexual morality, identities, body norms and moral concepts from all over the world as well as the artistic and alternative approaches to the genre of pornography. The festival takes place in the last week of October and is independent, non-commercial and without public funding. In anticipation of the 20^th edition of the Pornfilmfestival Berlin, we dug deep into our archives to present a selection of the Best Short Film winners from our 20-year history, starting with the very first winner from back in 2006 and tracing the festival up through today. From a personal exploration of the relationship between sex and love to a horny love letter to a certain type of man to hilarious animated sexual awakenings and body modifications of a very different kind, there’s something for everyone in this program. Casting call for the new episode of Fisting Club by Shu Lea Cheang.

After the iconic first episode of Fisting Club, featuring Jiz Lee, Sadie Lune, Manon Praline and many others, Shu Lea Cheang and Jürgen Brüning join forces again to create Fisting Club Ep. 2. This time the focus is on the experiences of older cis gay men over the age of 60. For this reason we are looking for performers who fit this description. We are aiming for a diverse cast – we would love to be able to respresent stories of people of different cultural backgrounds and we encourage applications from BiPOC people.

Fisting Club Ep. 2 will be a short film of maximum 15 minutes. It will be shot in Berlin around the end of April 2025, in two shooting days. All performers will be paid for their participation. Pornfilmfestival Berlin is seeking new curators to join our team and bring fresh, diverse perspectives to our programming. Founded in 2006, the Pornfilmfestival Berlin is an independent, non-commercial film festival and the first of its kind in Germany, held annually in Berlin’s oldest cinema, Moviemento, as well as Babylon Kreuzberg.

About the Pornfilmfestival Berlin

The Pornfilmfestival Berlin is dedicated to showcasing films that explore sexuality in nuanced and creative ways, sparking conversations around sexual ethics, identity, gender diversity, and artistic interpretations of pornography. Our program includes an average of 25-30 feature-length films and around 100 short films. These selections delve into body norms, global moral perceptions, and alternative narratives within the genre.

With an audience of about 8,000 attendees from around the world, including a broad mix of hetero-, homo-, bi-, trans*, non-binary, and queer individuals, the festival stands as an international and inclusive event. Each year, we enrich our screenings with panel discussions, lectures, readings, workshops, performances, and presentations to expand upon the themes at the heart of our programming.

Position Details

As a curator, you will join us for a one-year term in 2025, focusing on the curation of the short film program. Responsibilities include:

• Film Selection: Reviewing approximately 300 short film submissions between January and May, with the option to propose additional films.
• Collaboration: Attending monthly (in person or remote) meetings with the curatorial team and participating in a mandatory program-planning meeting in Berlin in early June.
• Festival Participation: Joining us in Berlin for the festival in late October, contributing to catalogue writing, and potentially moderating sessions.

This is a paid freelance position. The successful candidates must have experience in film or film curation and be fluent in English (native fluency not required).
