Pornfilmfestival Berlin 2019 Awards

Best Feature Film

DIE TRAURIGEN MÄDCHEN AUS DEN BERGEN
(THE SAD GIRLS FROM THE MOUNTAINS)
by Candy Flip & Theo Meow

From all the movies we saw, there was ONE that left the biggest impression on us. It’s a movie that stands out through its originality, metaness, clever humor, and timely political commentary. Through its marketing, the filmmakers created characters that go beyond the screen. On top of all that, the movie does not only talk about sex work, but was also financed through sex work.

Best Short Film

THE SEWERS OF HETEROSEXUALITY
by Marianne ChargoisHonorable Mention

The members of the jury chose the THE SEWERS OF HETEROSEXUALITY as the winner of the 2019 short film award. The film was excellently crafted and we were inspired by the idealogy of sexual dissidence portrsued in this film, and your persistence in entering the internal world of the body to disrupt a normative paradigm.

Honorable Mention

INSTINCT
by Ester Martin Bergsmark, Marit Östberg, Adrienne Teicher, Mad Kate

Every short film this year was unique and brilliantly crafted to express every facet of sexual expression in our complex world of gender expression. Some made us laugh while others made us further investigate who we are both internally and externally. It was hard to decided but nevertheless We, the members of the short film jury would like to give a special jury mention to INSTINCT for its stunning collaborative effort, and sex thst shatters the gender spectrum and mainstream notions of the body.

Best Documentary

MR. LEATHER
by Daniel Nolasco

The Documentary Film Award goes to a film that is narrated from the perspective of an outsider. The filmmaker approaches a scene that he is at first unfamiliar with, and portrays its protagonists and its very specific rituals with curiosity, wit, humor and empathy. And then, he searches and finds a cinematic form that is as playful and individualistic as the protagonists of his film. The Pornfilmfestival Berlin 2019 Documentary Film Award goes to MR. LEATHER by Daniel Nolasco.
