A tribute to Annie Sprinkle and Beth Stephens

Special, 90 min., engl. OV

Porn icon Annie Sprinkle is finally returning to the PFFB after many years, accompanied by her partner Beth Stephens. Annie’s famous quote – “The answer to bad porn is not no porn, but to try to make better porn” – could very well be the festival’s motto. Since its first edition 20 years ago, they have both been close friends and supporters of the festival. This year, they will once again be live guests and, will receive a lifetime achievement award.

Annie Sprinkle and Beth Stephens have made films and created multi-media projects about sexuality and will present a retrospective “show & tell” using video clips and photos from over the decades. Sprinkle made over 100 X-rated feature films and has appeared in dozens of documentaries, B movies, and arty sex films. She coined the term “post porn” to describe her work.

After Beth Stephens and Annie Sprinkle became partners, they explored the idea of the Earth as their lover, launching the Ecosex Movement. Soon after, Stephens directed her first feature documentary, “Goodbye Gauley Mountain: An Ecosexual Love Story”, in 2014. Then they co-directed, “Water Makes Us Wet: An Ecosexual Adventure”. Their latest film, “Playing with Fire – An Ecosexual Emergency”, (screening in Berlin on October 18th at HAU,) completes their trilogy of queer environmental films through an ecosexual gaze.
