Workshop: The Psychology of Desire – Understanding What Turns Us On

S*MAC Forum, 90 Min.
Mit: Chiara Riolfi
Note: this workshop is in English.
This workshop explores the physiological and psychological layers of desire, moving beyond surface-level arousal into a deeper understanding of what shapes our sexuality. Desire is not random – it is influenced by personal experiences, cultural conditioning, fantasies, and internalized beliefs about what is allowed, attractive, or taboo.
Through guided reflection, gentle exercises, and optional sharing, participants are invited to explore their own arousal patterns with curiosity rather than judgment. We will look at how sexual scripts are formed – through media, relationships, upbringing, and porn – and how these scripts influence what we feel drawn to.
The workshop also creates space to examine the role of shame, guilt, and societal expectations, and how they can both restrict and shape desire. At the same time, we explore how curiosity and awareness can open up new, more authentic ways of relating to pleasure.
The focus lies on understanding, integration, and developing a more conscious, self-accepting relationship with one’s own desire and also how that feels in the body. As the body is the instrument we have sex with.
Participants leave with deeper insight into their inner landscape of attraction, as well as tools to engage with their sexuality in a way that feels more aligned, intentional, and free.
