With his characteristically calm storytelling style, Sébastien Lifshitz traces the life of Claude Loir, spanning from his childhood in a modest family in the Pyrenees to his unexpected career as a porn performer in the 1970s.
Loosely adapted from Loir’s book “Confessions païennes”, the film also explores the acceptance of pornographic films in Paris during the 1960s and 1970s and how the emergence of AIDS transformed the lives of gay men. It also tells how the former porn star comes to terms with ageing and even falls in love again. Blending intimate interviews with archival footage, it paints a portrait of a man who spent his entire life searching for freedom and never paid much heed to society’s moral prohibitions.
