In São Paulo, Matias invites several men to a chemsex gathering. At the center of it all is Clarice Lispector’s The Passion According to G.H., one of Brazil’s formative novels of the 1960s. Passages from the narrative blend with sex, and the book’s fictional protagonist, G.H., appears to Matias as he comes down from the high. Yet, physical desire does not take center stage, as the men’s innermost thoughts, fears, and insecurities get explored along the way. The recurring rush allows for complete transparency, and the poetry of the moment enables climax.
Film makers Gustavo Vinagre and Vinicius Couto present an equally intimate and imaginative, yet sobering, study of one of the most explosive topics currently affecting gay men.
