Mickey & Richard

With: Mickey Squires, Richard Bernstein

While “Raw, Uncut, Video”, which was screened at the PFFB in 2021, introduced audiences to the fetish and BDSM studio Palm Drive Video, directing duo White/Pickle turn their attention in their latest film to legendary porn star Mickey Squires, aka Richard Bernstein. Blending striking black-and-white 16mm cinematography with archival footage, the film becomes a remarkably tender study of the blurred boundaries between Richard the person and Mickey the sex icon. Along the way, it sheds light on the complexities of life in the porn industry, the loss of friends to AIDS, and the challenges of queer aging.
