Fucking with Marilyn

“Fucking with Marilyn” is a documentary that confronts the myth of a film icon with the personal story of Simona Kasprowicz. A scandalous video that never existed and a documentary that refuses all claims to objectivity. Seated on the red casting couch of pop culture is a transfeminine body that dismantles the icon and reassembles her according to its own desires. What cis-heteronormative culture sells as “natural” is revealed to be a trans-action: a long-running performance, a role imposed through gazes and social contracts. The face of the icon merges with the face of Simona Kasprowicz; myth gives way to fantasy, where icon and performer become one. Who is watching? How are they watching? What do they see – and do they see anything at all?
