Twenty years ago, the compilation film project “Fucking Different” was launched with the question of similarities and differences between gays and lesbians. While the young queer community seems to have moved closer together, a rift between the generations has become apparent in recent years.
For “FDG”, queer filmmakers of the boomer generation made a short about their ideas of the lives of young queer people, and young queer filmmakers of Gen Z reflected on their ideas about queer boomers in another short film. For example, Todd Verow asks young queers about their cruising experiences, Jo Pollux lets a boomer become a hip Gen Z person for 24 hours, and Monika Treut explores what the generations can learn from each other. The result is a collection of seven short films that deal in a humorous, poetic, and reflective way with the similarities, differences, and possibilities for rapprochement between the generations in the queer community.
