Event: Intimate Creation – Launch of Erotic Review magazine issue 6

Join us to celebrate the launch of issue 6 of the Erotic Review, a London-based literary and art journal that explores desire. Saskia Vogel will lead a conversation with fellow editor Lucy Roeber, photographer Oliver Chanarin and film director Fiona Jane Burgess, whose short film, The Rehearsal, will be screened for its Berlin premiere. We will be discussing the intimacy of creation in the magazine and the erotics of the rehearsal space. Plus readings by ms RedCherries and Hendrik Otremba.
About
Fiona Jane Burgess is a London-based director whose work spans music, fashion and commercial filmmaking. Her films have been recognised by D&AD, AICP, British Arrows, CICLOPE, the Webbys and Vimeo Staff Picks. She has directed work for Mercedes, Gucci, Burberry and Calvin Klein as well as music videos for Wolf Alice, The Last Dinner Party and Christina Aguilera. She is currently developing her debut narrative short film.
Oliver Chanarin is an artist working primarily with photography. His work culminates in different media including books, installation, robotics and printed matter. Chanarin held the position of professor of photography at the Hochschule für bildende Künste (HFBK) in Hamburg and is one half of Broomberg & Chanarin, whose work is held by the Pompidou, Tate and MoMA, among others. Awards include the ICP Infinity Award and the Deutsche Börse Photography Prize.
ms RedCherries is a citizen of the Northern Cheyenne Nation. A graduate of the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, her debut, mother (Penguin, 2024), was a winner of the American Book Award and a finalist for the National Book Award.
Hendrik Otremba is a writer, musician and painter living in Hamburg and Zurich, where he teaches creative writing at the University of Zurich. His fetish is being a private investigator.
Saskia Vogel is the author of the novel Permission (2019) and the co-creator and deputy editor of the new Erotic Review. Her work has appeared in Granta, The Paris Review and The New Yorker, amongst others. An award-winning translator of over two-dozen Swedish books, she was most recently a finalist for the 2024 National Book Award for her translation of Linnea Axelsson’s novel-in-verse Ædnan. She lives in Berlin.
Lucy Roeber is the founder, editor and publisher of the Erotic Review. Recently, she’s been curating events with the ICA, BerlinPornFlimFestival, Reference Point and the Groucho Club, and has published articles and essays in the TLS, the Guardian and the Real Review amongst others.
