Violeta, the director of a successful amateur lesbian porn, quits during the shooting of her next film as her frustration with making a major production rises. It’s time for a break and new creative perspectives, and the goal is as simple as it is ambitious: to make a film on her own terms. A sudden trip with friends from Buenos Aires to São Paulo becomes an opportunity for inspiration, new encounters and a search for freedom while questioning life and career choices. Albertina Carri (Las hijas del fuego, 2018) delivers aesthetics and introspection that cross a roadtrip, a thriller, a documentary, and an essay while also commenting on the meaning of independent filmmaking.
