As in her last documentary “Naked America”, director Inés Moldavsky asks different men to sit naked in front of the camera and reflect individually on masculinity and vulnerability. The new documentary takes place in Israel and the reflections focus on personal experiences during Israeli military service that every 18-year-old male Israelite has to do for 30 months. The director asks the questions classically behind the camera with no visible interaction, which creates an apparent distance and simultaneously allows a single space for each interviewee. Over the course of “Naked Israel” each experience of conscription is its own intimate and naked relationship with the state authority.
