Hong Kong filmmaker Scud has been one of the radical auteurs of queer world cinema for 10 years now, making films with strong contrasts between exuberant aesthetics and nightmarish abysses of depression and drug abuse. Using multiple stylistic breaks, ADONIS tells the story of an ambitious young actor who reluctantly starts to do gay porn and sex work ‑ a sexual-spiritual journey between obsession and self-awareness.
