DIE TRAURIGEN MÄDCHEN AUS DEN BERGEN
(THE SAD GIRLS FROM THE MOUNTAINS)
by Candy Flip & Theo Meow
From all the movies we saw, there was ONE that left the biggest impression on us. It’s a movie that stands out through its originality, metaness, clever humor, and timely political commentary. Through its marketing, the filmmakers created characters that go beyond the screen. On top of all that, the movie does not only talk about sex work, but was also financed through sex work.

MR. LEATHER
by Daniel Nolasco
The Documentary Film Award goes to a film that is narrated from the perspective of an outsider. The filmmaker approaches a scene that he is at first unfamiliar with, and portrays its protagonists and its very specific rituals with curiosity, wit, humor and empathy. And then, he searches and finds a cinematic form that is as playful and individualistic as the protagonists of his film. The Pornfilmfestival Berlin 2019 Documentary Film Award goes to MR. LEATHER by Daniel Nolasco.
