For the first time ever, the European Commission will officially participate in an event within the adult industry. The Pornfilmfestival Berlin (PFFB) is proud to announce that Eleonora Esposito, Case-handler Officer at the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Communications Networks, Content, and Technology (DG CONNECT), will be joining the event. Eleonora Esposito oversees the enforcement of the Digital Services Act (DSA) on very large online platforms within the adult industry and will be a panelist at the opening session of the Adult Industry Only (AIO) segment, which will focus on the future of the adult content sector and its intersection with policy, technology, and innovation.
The panel, titled Future of the Adult Sector: New Law, New Tech, New Voices will take place on October 22nd, 2024, at 12:00 CET in the FORUM Factory (Besselstraße 13-14). Moderated by Paulita Pappel, organiser of Pornfilmfestival Berlin, the panel will feature key voices from across the industry. The European Commission will represent the regulatory perspective, while other panelists will ensure an inclusive and well-balanced discussion:
Alessandro Polidoro, attorney at law and digital rights advocate, representing civil society.
Ana Ornelas, from the Digital Intimacy Coalition, representing the creators.
Camille Clouvel, from Dorcel, representing the industry and adult platforms.
“We are honoured to welcome the European Commission to our festival“, says Paulita Pappel, the festival’s organiser. ‘This marks an unprecedented step toward collaboration between policymakers and the adult industry, illustrating the need for thoughtful and forward-thinking dialogue on regulation, innovation, and digital rights in this space.‘
The Adult Industry Only (AIO) segment is a specialised part of the festival, dedicated to professionals from the adult film and digital content sectors. This year’s panel aims to explore how new laws, such as the Digital Services Act (DSA), will impact the sector’s future, alongside cutting-edge technologies and emerging voices.
Esposito’s participation represents a significant milestone, as it marks the European Commission’s recent direct engagement with the adult industry. Her participation is part of the European Commission’s efforts within the newly established regulatory dialogue under the Digital Services Act (DSA). Her contribution will highlight the Commission’s proactive approach to digital innovation and regulatory frameworks. This open discussion will offer an important platform to examine how policy can support ethical standards while fostering innovation in the creative and digital content industries.
