The Doom Generation
Film program, US 1995, 83 min., engl. OV
By: Gregg Araki
With: Rose McGowan, James Duval, Jonathan Schaech
Note: this film will be presented as double feature with “Nowhere”.
Perhaps no name is as synonymous with New Queer Cinema as Gregg Araki and in 1995, he dropped the second film in his Teen Apocalypse Trilogy “The Doom Generation” exposing him to his largest audience yet. In the film, after killing a convenience store clerk, teenagers Amy Blue (Rose McGowan in her breakout role), Jordan White and Xavier Red blaze a trail of sex, bloody violence and snarky quips across an America littered with wild degenerates (played by a surprising number of 1990s stars: Parker Posey, Margaret Cho, Perry Farrell…) making for one fucked up, hilarious and razor-sharp road movie. After more than 25 years, this cult classic has a brand new 4K remastered director’s cut and we’re proud to present that along with the remaster of part three of the trilogy “Nowhere”.
