Nowhere
Film program, US/FR 1997, 83 min., engl. OV
By: Gregg Araki
With: James Duval, Rachel True
Note: this film will be presented as double feature with “The Doom Generation”.
Perhaps no name is as synonymous with New Queer Cinema as Gregg Araki and in 1997. He dropped the third film in his Teen Apocalypse Trilogy, “Nowhere”, the most widely available of any of his films by that point but filled with as many fringe thrills. Described by Araki himself as “Beverly Hills 90210 on acid”, and part Twilight Zone with a dash of Kafka, “Nowhere” follows the adventures of bisexual, polyamorous couple Dark and Mel as they navigate a day in their bizarre, surreal version of Los Angeles, ostensibly, nowhere. The film also features a cavalcade of soon-to-be stars in the 1990s. After more than 25 years, this cult classic has a brand new 4K remastered director’s cut and we’re proud to present that along with the remaster of part two of the trilogy, The Doom Generation.
