Lesbians are known to come from the island of Lesbos… at least that’s what its inhabitants call themselves. But the sexual orientation of the same name also refers to the Greek island and its most famous artist, the poet Sappho. In her debut film, Tzeli Hadjidimitriou, who is practically a double lesbian, portrays the phenomenon of the many thousands of lesbian women who have been making a pilgrimage to the former fishing village of Scala Eressos for decades in order to spend their vacations here freely and without shame and to experience sexual adventures. A fascinating journey from the 70s to a beach paradise full of naked lesbians, to today, where lesbian bars, hotels and new infrastructure do not always show the necessary respect to the locals.
