By: Rachel Daisy Ellis
In “Eros”, Rachel Daisy Ellis documents Brazil’s hourly-rate motels, which are very common in the country and frequented by people of all ages. When a protagonist with whom she wants to conduct an interview in a motel room does not show up, she first films herself alone and then decides to give various couples a camera to film themselves during their stays in the motel. The result is a highly diverse collection of very intimate self-portraits that paint a sexual and emotional picture of an entire nation, sometimes explicitly and often ruthlessly open.
