Young Jaime end up in prison. There he experiences the harsh reality behind bars that is dominated by the older Potro. Potro becomes Jaime’s guardian and domineering sex partner. The film conveys complex sex and power relationships within an isolated world. Based on a long lost novel by Mario Cruz, it is set in Chile at the beginning of the 1970s and portraits the country shortly before Salvador Allende took office. Director Sebastian Muñoz shows a homosexual relationship in a place that is demeaning and while it yet offers its own sexual freedoms.
