We understand empowering as the political dwelling of our erotic vital energy through the exploration and liberation of the pelvic area. Desire, pleasure, and sensuality, are the core concepts to understand the re-appropriation of the body as a process of empowerment from the singular towards the collective.

From our body biographies, somatic and contemporary dance practices (perreo: freak dancing / booty dancing / twerk) and through rhythms that make us enjoy and connect with the vital force of the pelvic area, we seek to use this erotic/creative energy to promote physical awareness and self-healing to re-discover the relationship with our bodies and their capacity to generate powerful transformative energy, which allows us to acknowledge our agency in the creation of our reality.

Empowerment involves re-appropriating and decolonizing our bodies through dance, enjoyment, and pleasure. This workshop offers to create a space that embraces and celebrates everybody who feels moved towards new practices that seek to shift our present.

About the facilitators:

This workshop will be facilitated by Colectivo Corporeal. Through performance, filmmaking, dance, and installations we develop a research focus on empowerment practices, the politics of the body and decolonization through singular and communal experiences.
