La Planque 1
(Sex Porno)

Retrospective, FR 1975, 90 min., 35mm, dt. Fassung/in German

By: José Bénazéraf (1922–2012)

With: Marianne Fournier, Gérard Ourardou, Philippe Tremain

(Please note the change of program. We regret that we are not able to screen “Le Bordel, 1ère époque: 1900 (Amore 1900)” as was advertised earlier.)

José Bénazéraf‘s work is one of the great treasures of French cinema that has been largely forgotten today. The director, who made his debut in the early 1960s with a series of existentialist noir melodramas and staged nearly 100 films until the turn of the millennium, had extremely prominent fans and advocates in Jean-Luc Godard and the Paris Cinémathèque founder Henri Langlois. While his non-pornographic early work has recently been rediscovered by young cinephiles, his extensive pornographic oeuvre is almost completely unknown. Little is also known about “La Planque 1” – but it seems certain that the dark film noir about two robbers on the run and a car driver is one of the darker, more brutal porn melodramas in the filmography of this forgotten master. We are happy to rediscover this very rare film together with you.
