Forbidden Letters
PFFB classics, US 1976, 70 min., engl. OV
By: Arthur J. Bressan, Jr. (1943-1987)
With: Robert Adams, Richard Locke, Victoria Young
A rediscovery from the Golden Age of Porn and one of the most poetic, artistic gay porn movies of all time: Explicit, erotic letters between a young man and his imprisoned lover recall happier times and tell the story of two lovers, one in prison, the other still in the same apartment in San Francisco. Based on the autobiographical story of a short, institutionally suppressed pen friendship, Arthur J. Bressan, Jr. stages “Forbidden Letters” simultaneously as a dark film poem roaming through memory spaces and as explicitly sexual gay porn. Between expressive black-and-white shots and color film passages, between excitement and fear, passion, doubt, insecurity and familiarity, Bressan spans a broad emotional spectrum between his two great lead actors.
